Peter Wong is an intellectual property lawyer and patent agent registered with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Clients served by Peter include technology-based businesses, inventors, and researchers in a variety of technical fields including oil and gas extraction and processing, engineering, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, advanced materials, and computing. Peter welcomes prospective clients to contact him to discuss their intellectual property needs.

Peter prosecutes Canadian patent applications, U.S. patent applications (for Canadian applicants), and international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and coordinates patent applications in foreign countries. Peter advises on patentability, patent validity, and patent infringement issues. As well, Peter prepares and reviews agreements that affect intellectual property rights, such as license agreements, technology development agreements, employment or consulting agreements, and sale agreements. In this regard, Peter’s previous experience as a civil litigator provides insights on how clients can manage their risks and avoid disputes.

Before becoming a lawyer, Peter obtained a graduate degree in engineering. He received numerous awards including a Governor General's Academic Medal, the Horace Harvey Gold Medal in Law, and an APEGGA Gold Medal in Engineering. Peter currently serves on the Industrial Design Committee, and previously served on the Patent Practice Committee for the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). Peter has guest lectured on intellectual property law at the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business at the University of Alberta, and has volunteered on TEC Edmonton's TEC Source Advisory Panel.
