Madeleine (Maddy) Samis joined Bennett Jones as a student in 2024 at the Toronto office.
Overview
Throughout her studies at the University of Windsor, Maddy deepened her interest in corporate law through coursework in corporate finance, contract drafting and tax. She was actively involved in her community as a peer mentor, a teaching assistant for tax law, and a participant in her law school’s run club.
Maddy first developed an interest in corporate law while working with a variety of small and large family-owned businesses. Observing the transformation of small businesses into large companies sparked her curiosity about the complex and detailed role corporate lawyers play in these processes. She also spent several years coaching downhill ski racing, gymnastics and trampoline, as well as teaching violin. These experiences helped her develop strong leadership and communication skills, which she continues to apply in her legal career.
Prior to attending law school, Maddy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph in 2022.
