Overview

Sydney Olsen maintains a broad corporate commercial law practice with a focus on commercial transactions, public and private mergers and acquisitions and other corporate/commercial matters, including project development, joint ventures, asset and share purchase transactions, amalgamations and corporate reorganizations. Sydney regularly assists clients in negotiating and drafting energy contracts related to the development of oil and gas and renewable resources. Additionally, Sydney has experience in corporate and securities law matters including plans of arrangement, corporate governance and continuous disclosure.

Prior to becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Sydney both summered and articled with the firm. During her articles, she was seconded to the Calgary office of a multinational integrated oil and gas company.

ATCO Energy Solutions Ltd. (ATCO) in connection with its acquisition of Amphora Canada Gas Storage ULC, an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners, and Iberdrola Canada Energy Services, a subsidiary of Scottish Power, giving ATCO sole ownership of the Alberta Hub natural gas storage facility
Canadian Utilities Limited in its acquisition from Suncor of a renewable assets portfolio (32-megawatts of operating wind assets, and a 1.5-gigawatt wind and solar development portfolio in Alberta and Ontario) for $713 -million
North West Redwater Partnership and NWR Financing Company Ltd., in its $1.3 billion issuance of Series P Senior Bonds and Series Q Senior Bonds, led by CIBC World Markets Inc. and RBC Dominion Securities Inc. as lead agents.
Hillcore Management Corporation in closing the acquisition of Midlite Construction Ltd. and its subsidiary TND Rentals & Supplies Ltd. by way of Share Purchase.
ATCO Power (2010) Ltd. in its restructuring and co-ownership, financing, and funding transactions related to Chiniki and Goodstoney First Nations' participation in the Deerfoot and Barlow solar projects.
